Arms for 1.5 and 25kV

Conventional 1.5kV arms

B4-arm

This 1.5kV/25kV compatible arm has been developed jointly by Armada and its partner RIBE, and complies with Prorail SPC00121, version 002. There are various types. We are able to determine, in accordance with requirements, which type of arm should be used, from cross-sections to production drawings.

B5-arm for the Betuweroute

This 25kV arm has been specially designed by ProRail (SPC 00080) for the Betuweroute in The Netherlands and is shaped differently from the B4 arm. The specifications differ and there are fewer variants. Armada collaborated with RIBE in developing this arm as well.
This arm stands out because the welded joints that are commonly used between the aluminium tubes have been replaced by cast aluminium connectors.
This principle is comparable to the construction we use for the B4 arm, which is the standard arm used in 1.5/25kV compatible systems in The Netherlands.

Advantages of the B5 arm:

  • No complicated welded joints between the aluminium tubes, as these could lead to possible loss of strength and accelerated ageing as a result.
  • Better adjustability.
  • B5 arms are supplied pre-assembled in an installation frame, marked for use on the right mast.
  • Rapid replacement and exchange are possible because the arm is assembled from quickly installed standard components.

Certification:

B5 arms from Armada was tested in accordance with SPC00080 on 15-06-2004 and was certified by AEAT/KEMA.

Structural arm

Armada developed its own structural arm in accordance with Prorail SPC specifications, and it was supplied and installed shortly after being designed by our engineers.
The arm complies fully with the basic specification and the design has been certified.
It goes without saying that we are also able to carry out associated engineering activities, such as type determination, cross-sections, and production drawings.

B4/B5 jigs

Special installation jigs make it possible to deliver B4, B5 and structural arms (or a mixture of these) in a very visible manner. This method virtually eliminates damage during shipment or storage. During installation on the track section, the correct arm can be taken from the jig at the correct place and put into position. This saves time during installation and prevents damage in the interim.
